While experiential therapies like psychodrama and sociometry are typically a group method, they can be highly effective modalities when working with individuals and couples. In this training workshop, for professionals only, participants will be taught specific action methods techniques, such as sociometry, doubling and role reversal, that can aid in the engagement process, help individuals and couples build trust, deepen affect and shift behavior to create a more meaningful life.

Because there will not be auxiliaries – or role players – available to play other people or parts of self, we will specifically explore techniques that allow for a full psychodramatic experience while working with these limitations.  We will explore how to utilize yourself as a therapist, and how to best not take on transference in the process.

We will focus on issues such as:

Using props and chairs (in lieu of people) to represent other people or parts of self
Using doubling and role reversal effectively
Using art making and writing exercises that can be explored in action
Dealing with transference and countertransference issues
Emotional expansion and containment skills
Working within limited time frames

COVID POLICIES

Due to the on-going Covid-19 crisis, participants are asked to bring rapid Covid tests each day of the workshop and to arrive 30 minutes in advance of group to take the test before we start the workshop. If you are unable to bring your own tests, please email admin@braveheartretreats.com at least 2 weeks before the start of the workshop. If anyone either tests positive for Covid-19 or has illness symptoms, we ask that you not return for the remainder of the workshop and a credit will be given towards a future workshop for time missed. Please note, Covid vaccination is no longer required to attend in person trainings.

If there is reason to believe it is a false positive (which studies show are rare), you can get a PCR test and may be allowed to return to the workshop with:

  • a negative test
  • no symptoms
  • a willingness to wear a medical grade mask (N-95, KN-95, KF-94, or surgical)
  • other group participants feel comfortable with this

General mask requirements for the workshop will be dependent on local ordinance and communicated prior to group.
