In the early stages of therapy, clients are often ambivalent and therefore, reluctant to engage in the process, whether it be in group, individual, couples or family work. Â Moreover, most clinicians receive little or NO training in how to build a safe container with clients, and without it, Â the potential for engagement in therapy – and healing – is inhibited.
Through sociometric exercises, you will learn how to lower anxiety and build spontaneity with your clients, which will propel them forward – in a very short amount of time – to a deeper sense of connection and safety. Â Through the use of sociometry, we can help groups, family members, couples or individuals reveal themselves – working from less to more vulnerable exercises – which can facilitate their being seen and understood much more effectively.
This Sociometry Weekend is designed to help participants better understand how to identify how to engage clients in healing. We will specifically look at timing of interventions and techniques, such as spectrograms, locograms, barometers, action sociograms, social atoms, and the Diamond of Opposites, to help address issues of such as lack of motivation, isolates, cliques, transferences and resentments, so that participants will have a strong set of skills to address any sociometric dynamic.
This group is open to professionals only and can therefore serve as a safe, supportive place to explore their own healing and transformation without the concern of clients being present.

COVID POLICIES
Due to the on-going Covid-19 crisis, participants are asked to complete rapid Covid tests on the first day of the workshop, to ensure that everyone tests negative. Participants can either complete their test prior to the workshop, and bring it with them to show they are negative, or arrive at least 20 minutes in advance of group to take the test before we start the workshop. If anyone either tests positive for Covid-19 or has illness symptoms, we ask that you not return for the remainder of the workshop and a credit will be given towards a future workshop for time missed.
If there is reason to believe it is a false positive (which studies show are rare), you can get a PCR test and may be allowed to return to the workshop with:
- a negative PCR test
- no symptoms
- a willingness to wear a medical grade mask (N-95, KN-95, KF-94, or surgical)
- other group participants feel comfortable with this
General mask requirements for the workshop will be dependent on local ordinance and communicated prior to group.
PLEASE NOTE
– We also request that all workshops and trainings be scent-free (other than pure essential oils). Â Many people have allergies to such substances and we appreciate your abstaining from wearing any perfumes or colognes while participating.
– Since many people have allergies to pet hair and dander, please be mindful of wearing clothing that is as free of these as possible, so as not to cause an allergic reaction in others.
– Eating is not permitted in group (this includes mints, gum, etc), as it can be distracting to you and fellow group members.
SUBSTANCE USE POLICY
If you are in substance abuse recovery, you must have at least 1 year of continuous sobriety in order to attend. Â It is also required that all non-recovering participants abstain from alcohol and non-prescribed substances for the duration of this training, as well as the 48 hours prior to workshop commencement. Â This will aid in being present for the personal work and learning.
