The Little Willingness Exercise – Virtual Training
Sometimes all you need is a little willingness…
People are often labeled as “resistant” or “unwilling,” when they’re actually just inadequately warmed up. Our job as clinicians is to help them warm up to change, and by exploring their willingness in action, it can invite greater insight, to help motivate them to shift.
The Little Willingness Exercise – created by Psychodramatist Bill Coleman – helps clients utilize action to explore their current level of willingness, and the defenses that are protecting them (but also getting in the way), to help them to clear roadblocks so they can move forward.
This exercise is particularly useful with clients who are:
- Stuck
- Have a history of addiction (substance abuse, eating disorders, debting, gambling, etc)
- Are mandated to treatment
- In fear about change
In this didactic and experiential workshop, we will walk you step by step through the action-based Willingness Exercise, to help your clients experience a shift, and step into the direction of healing.
